SNSC 2026: Championship Wrap-Up

The 21st Singapore National Swimming Championship delivered six Meet Records, standout performances across six nations, and dominant displays from Chinese Swimming Club and Singapore Swimming Club at the top of the medal table. We break down every A-Final winner, the guest athletes who shaped the competition, and the Singapore swimmers who defined the meet.

21st SNSC 2026 — Championship Summary

The 21st Singapore National Swimming Championship (SNSC) 2026 took place from 27 to 30 May at OCBC Aquatic Centre, hosted by Singapore Aquatics. The competition drew entries from across Singapore's competitive club swimming community, alongside invited guest athletes from Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, India and Sri Lanka.

Racing ran across eight sessions over four days — morning heats followed by evening finals — with events spanning the full long course programme from 50m sprints through to 1500m distance. Guest athletes were eligible to compete but limited to two per final tier (A, B and C-Final), with national ranking and championship titles reserved for Singapore-based clubs.

Guest athlete rule: Foreign and invited athletes (denoted by * in the official results) were permitted to compete across all events, but only the two fastest guest athletes in each heat could advance to each final tier — A, B or C-Final. This kept national championship places within the Singapore club competition while allowing guest swimmers to race against local fields.

The dominant performer of the 21st SNSC, Gan Ching Hwee claimed four individual gold medals spanning sprint, middle-distance and butterfly — an exceptional range at any level. Her 200 Free and 400 Free victories both broke Meet Records: her 1:59.44 in the 200 Free shattered the previous mark set in 2009 and made her just the second swimmer in SNSC history to break two minutes in the event. Her 200 Fly gold capped a four-discipline championship that established her as the most versatile female swimmer in the competition.

Lee Mikkel set the tone on Day 1 with a Meet Record of 48.80 in the M 100 Freestyle — the fastest time in the championship's history at this venue. He backed it up with golds in the 50 Fly and 50 Free over the following days, completing a dominant sprint treble. His 100 Free mark eclipses the previous SNSC best and signals a meaningful step forward for Singapore men's freestyle sprinting.

Multi-Stroke Champion

At 18, Cheng Reagan was arguably the most impressive performer of the championship when age is factored in. Three golds across 400 IM, 200 Backstroke and 200 IM — including a Meet Record of 2:02.11 in the 200 IM — demonstrate a level of technical completeness rarely seen from a teenage swimmer. His 200 IM MR broke the previous championship record by nearly a second and was one of the most significant swims of the entire meet.

Butterfly Double
Yeo, Chiok Sze
Swimfast Aquatic Club

Two butterfly golds: W 50 Fly (26.55) and W 100 Fly (59.58). Also silver in W 50 Free (24.98). The most accomplished butterfly swimmer of the championship and consistent across three sprint events.

Breaststroke Dominance
Chan, Jun Hao
AquaTech Swimming

Won both the M 100 Breast (1:01.82) and M 50 Breast (27.79). AquaTech teammates swept all three podium places in the 50 Breast — a remarkable club performance in a single event.

Distance Breakthrough
Azman, Ardi
Aquarian Aquatic School

Won the M 200 Free (1:50.19) with teammate Yap Yan Xi Brandon close behind (1:51.32). Azman also placed 2nd in M 100 Free and 3rd in M 200 IM — the most well-rounded male performance outside of Lee and Cheng.

Record Breaker
Lim, Amanda
Tts Merlions

Set a Meet Record of 24.77 in the W 50 Freestyle — breaking the previous SNSC mark of 24.94 set in 2024. At 33, Lim's continued presence at the sharp end of Singapore sprinting is remarkable.

Backstroke Champion
Yeo, Shu Ning Julia
Swim Alliance

Won the W 200 Backstroke in 2:16.46 — a Meet Record — and added silvers in W 400 IM and W 200 IM. Three podium finishes across three events across four days is a strong debut at this level for the 16-year-old.

IM Champion
Yo, Ee Xin Megan Janice
SwimDolphia Aquatic School

Won the W 200 IM (2:18.38) and took silver in both the W 50 Fly and W 100 Fly — adding three podium finishes to establish herself as one of the most complete female swimmers in the meet.

International & Guest Performances

Guest athletes from six nations contested the 21st SNSC alongside local clubs. While ineligible for national championship titles, they competed across the full programme and significantly elevated the competitive standard in several event groups — particularly backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

Competition rule: A maximum of two guest athletes per final tier (A, B and C-Final) were permitted. Where more than two guest swimmers qualified in an event, only the two fastest advanced. This allowed Singapore athletes to race against high-quality international competition while preserving the integrity of national rankings.
South Korea
Hwaseong City
4 event wins  ·  19 total medals

The largest and most decorated guest contingent at the meet. Song Imgyu swept the men's backstroke sprints (M 100 Back 54.99, M 50 Back 25.36), while Baek Inchul won the M 100 Fly (53.24) and was a podium presence throughout. The Korean squad collectively registered the most A-Final appearances of any guest delegation.

Thailand
Singha Swimming Club

Saovanee Boonamphai was the standout, winning the W 100 Breast (1:10.90), W 50 Back (28.96) and W 50 Breast (31.94) across three days. Mia Millar took the W 100 Back (1:03.15) and added silver in W 200 Back — making Singha the dominant guest club in women's backstroke and breaststroke events.

Malaysia
Selangor (MAS)
1 A-Final medal

Ai Shen Eliza Tan was Selangor's sole representative in the A-Final medal positions, placing 3rd in the W 100 Freestyle with a time of 57.35. Selangor's wider squad of 22 athletes competed across all four days, with several reaching B-Finals in backstroke, freestyle and butterfly events.

India
Dolphin Aquatics & IIS
2 silver medals

Srihari Nataraj (Dolphin Aquatics) took silver in M 50 Back (25.49), narrowly behind guest champion Song Imgyu. Kushagra Rawat (Inspire Institute of Sport) placed 2nd in M 400 Free (4:01.18) behind Leong Wei Sheng Ian.

Sri Lanka
Killer Whale Aquatics
1 bronze medal
