Dhuha Returns to Lane 4 — Can He Break His Own Record?

Muhammad Dhuha Bin Zulfikry has already written his name into SUKMA XXII history. The 18-year-old Wilayah Persekutuan swimmer holds the meet record in the Men's 400m Freestyle at 3:55.59 — and tonight he's back in lane 4, the fastest qualifier by nearly four seconds.

His prelims time of 4:12.40 doesn't reflect his true ceiling: that 3:55.59 MR was set earlier in the meet. The question tonight is whether he can go under it again, or whether the accumulated fatigue of a multi-event programme catches up.

Because Dhuha isn't just swimming the 400 free tonight. He's also in the Men's 100m Butterfly final — Event 404, scheduled later in the evening. A double. Both finals. Same night.

Behind him, Selangor's pair of Hermann Bok Yu Tang and Aslan Adnan both qualified at 4:16.74, making the silver and bronze a two-horse race between State rivals. Samuel Chong Weng Lai of Pulau Pinang at 4:17.18 is the outside threat.
