Selangor fields nine swimmers across all six Day 4 finals tonight — from Shannon Yan-Qing Tan in the 100 fly to the Li Goh brothers in the butterfly. Here's who to watch.
The Red and Gold, Everywhere
If you're watching tonight's finals at Akuatik Selangor, you'll be watching a lot of red and gold. Selangor has nine swimmers across all six events — from the opening 400m freestyle to the final breaststroke race of the night.
They are the home state. They are the host. And tonight, they come to race.
Event 401 — Women's 400m Freestyle
Yuan Yi Chong draws lane 4 as top seed at 4:39.90 — over three seconds clear of the field. The 17-year-old is Selangor's best chance at a gold medal in the opening final of the night.
Event 402 — Men's 400m Freestyle
Hermann Bok Yu Tang and Aslan Adnan both qualified at 4:16.74, landing in lanes 3 and 5 either side of Dhuha (Wilayah Persekutuan). They are the two most likely swimmers to challenge for silver and bronze — and if Dhuha has an off night, one of them could sneak gold.
Event 403 — Women's 100m Butterfly
Shannon Yan-Qing Tan and Yue Lynn Khor hold lanes 4 and 5. Shannon broke the 200 fly meet record twice yesterday. Tonight she lines up as top seed in the 100 fly at 1:04.27, with Yue Lynn right behind at 1:04.82. A Selangor 1-2 is on the cards.
Event 404 — Men's 100m Butterfly
Li Hen Goh (56.16, lane 5) and Li Jie Goh (57.01, lane 3) are the freshest swimmers in this race. While Dhuha races the 400 free first, both Li Gohs arrive rested and ready. The double takes a toll — Selangor's pair are betting on it.
Event 405 — Women's 200m Breaststroke
Sue Enn Khoo (2:46.24, lane 6) and Kayler Kang Yi Ngan (2:48.03, lane 7) are in a final stacked with young talent. With Jodie Yip (Melaka) and Isabelle Buckley (WP) ahead of them on paper, podium spots will be hard-fought — but not impossible.
Event 406 — Men's 200m Breaststroke
Zeng Wye Liew (2:24.04, lane 2) steps into the tightest race of the night. Just 3.2 seconds separates all eight finalists — Zeng Wye is 0.56 behind top seed Sophocles Ng. In a 200m race, that is nothing.
