Shannon Tan Breaks Meet Record in Women's 200m Butterfly at SUKMA 2026
Selangor's Shannon Yan-Qing Tan clocked 2:15.77 to shatter the 14-year-old meet record in the Women's 200m Butterfly heats at Akuatik Selangor.
Selangor's Shannon Yan-Qing Tan delivered one of the standout swims of SUKMA XXII on Day 3, clocking 2:15.77 in the Women's 200m Butterfly heats at Akuatik Selangor — smashing the meet record that had stood for 14 years.
The previous mark of 2:17.79 was set by Sarawak's Hii Siew Siew in 2012. Shannon erased it by more than two seconds, finishing well clear of a competitive field to top the heats as the number-one qualifier for tonight's final at Akuatik Selangor.
The 16-year-old's time also sits comfortably inside the national record of 2:14.30 set by Khoo Chai Lin in 2009, underlining the quality of the swim.
